King's Meadow

This batik painting is hand drawn batik on silk/cotton (50% silk/50% cotton).

Layers of hot wax and dye are used to build up the painting, starting with the lightest colour. Once finished the wax is removed to reveal the final result.

King's College Chapel is a special place for me, I am lucky enough to be Head of Art at King's College School, so frequent visits to the chapel are part of my working life. It is a never ending source of artistic inspiration and awe! I couldn't resist doing a batik of it!

For the last 2 years the 'keep off the grass' lawn infront of the chapel has been turned into a wild flower meadow, with pathways cut through it, encouraging joyful exploration through the meadow.

This painting is framed in a wooden oak effect frame.

Framed measurements: 50 x 62 cm

Unframed measurements: 33 x 45cm
